EyeArt shows 100% agreement with expert diagnosis of DR on all patients

On November 1st, 2017 at the Oslo Red Cross Conference Centre, Oslo Red Cross along with the Norwegian Women’s Public Health Association, and The Norwegian Diabetes Association organized educational talks and diabetic retinopathy(DR) screening for ethnic minority women. With support provided by ophthalmologists from the Oslo University Hospital/University of Oslo, over 150 women attended the event which was titled Could I have diabetes? A health day for women. A series of three presentations focused on diabetes, DR, and the impact of food and nutrition on health. During the subsequent DR screening,  EyeArt® AI Eye Screening System was used to instantaneously grade the fundus images from Centervue Eidon camera, in parallel to ophthalmologists independently grading the same images. The results showed 100% agreement with expert diagnosis on all patients with sight threatening retinopathy (STR).

Explaining the importance of the event, Dr. Goran Petrovski, Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Head of the Center for Eye Research, Oslo University Hospital/University of Oslo, Norway, stated “The prevalence of diabetes in ethnic minorities is 3-4 times higher than that of the native Norwegian population.” He added also that “Automated screening [using EyeArt] provides an efficient and accurate way of detecting DR.”
